With the advent of wireless technology, wireless intruder alarms are now very popular, especially in the domestic/residential market.

This is mainly due to the ease of installation and the reduced amount of mess and fuss associated with wired systems.

Modern wireless intruder alarms have proved to be very reliable and cost effective as no need to run cables.

MONITORING

Reasons why you should get your house Monitored

The general level of An Gárda Síochána states that over 40% of winter burglaries occur between 5.00pm and 11.00pm.
That is why the protection of a good home alarm system is an unfortunate necessity in 21st century Ireland.house-breaking and burglary is still high enough for all households to be rightly wary and concerned. A surprising proportion of incidents occurred when people were actually at home.

But an alarm system in itself is not enough and there is no doubt that a 24x365 monitoring service is the essential complement. A small price for protection and peace of mind.

Why you need monitoring

Everyone in Ireland has a story about house alarms ringing and apparently being ignored. When an alarm goes off, it may persuade an intruder to leave more speedily. Other than that, if no one responds in any way it just becomes a noise nuisance.

But a monitored and response alarm service ensures that appropriate action is taken immediately. When the alarm is triggered, the monitoring control centre will quickly contact the householder or other named contact to verify that the alert is real. When it is, or if the alarm is remotely verified by two or more different sensors, the Gardaí will be notified instantly. If it is a false alarm, a simple pre-agreed cancellation code word cancels the alert and the house ststem can be re-set by whoever is at home.

Guidelines from An Gárda Síochána mean that its policy now is not to attend an unmonitored alarm unless there is first hand evidence of crime. But an alert from a professional monitoring control centre always qualifies for a Gárda response as a verified alarm. In order to guarantee a Garda response you must have a Unique Reference Number (URN) issued by An Gárda Síochána. This requires certain conditions with which all Griffin Security Services  installations comply. When we complete an installation, the final part of our process is to help the client fill in the Gárda URN form and submit it on their behalf. andthe  house system can be.

What it achieves

The first purpose of an alarm system is to deter potential burglars, who will look for another unguarded house. The second is to scare intruders out of your home quickly and at the same time to alert you or your family, neighbours and the Gardaí. What happens after the alarm goes off will of course depend on the particular situation—neighbours and passers-by may just ignore the alarm. What monitoring ensures is that action is always taken. You are contacted immediately and if the alarm is verified the Gárdaí are notified immediately. From the alarm being triggered to Gárda notification can take less than a minute.
If the alarm system has been triggered accidentally it will usually mean that there is a family member at home, who can confirm that there is no problem. The alarm can then be re-set. Whatever the situation, the householder can return home or ask a trusted keyholder to check or to meet the Gárdaí and allow them access.
You will not be the neighbour from hell whose alarm goes off at random intervals and remains ringing all night, sometimes even days, before any action is taken.

Insurance Discount

All household insurance companies offer significant discounts on the annual premium where the home is covered by a monitored alarm service, usually at least 10% and up to 20%.

What Alarm Monitoring prevents

Even the most hardened criminals will target houses with no alarm or one that is not monitored. They know that a monitored alarm ensures Gárdaí will be notified immediately and a patrol car in the vicinity could mean Garda arrival in minutes. So there is a reasonable chance that you will lose fewer valuables. It is certainly a disincentive to carrying away slightly bulkier and incriminating items like laptop computers or televisions.
Monitoring also ensures that your alarm is switched off as soon as the situation is under control and does not become a nuisance, alienating your neighbour

SERVICE & MAINTENANCE

We can offer a repair and upgrade service on many out of date alarm systems such as HKC, Scopetronic, Vista 5, Horizon and Aritech.

These older systems need to conform to the new EN50131 Standard which is a requirement for your home insurance.

The new Garda monitoring policy came into effect in February 2008.

This means that all monitored alarms must send 2 completely different alarm activation's from each premises in order to activate a Garda response.

We also offer a full 24-hour call out service.
